Details

The concept of compression therapy lies on the simple and efficient mechanical principle of the application of an elastic garment around the leg. By compressing the limb with graduated compression; strongest at the ankle and decreasing going up the leg; the compression stocking helps the venous return, decreases venous pressure, prevents venous stasis and deterioration of venous walls, and efficiently relieves aching and heavy legs by aiding the body in moving blood up the leg against the pull of gravity.

Effects of compression

  • Hemodynamics effect
    • Increases venous blood flow
    • Decreases venous blood volume
    • Reduces reflux in diseased superficial and/or deep veins
    • Reduces a pathologically elevated venous pressure
  • Effect on tissue
    • Reduces an elevated oedema in of the tissue
    • Increases the drainage of nocious substances
    • Reduces inflammation
    • Sustains reparative processes
    • Improves movement of tendons and joints

Features of Sigvaris Cotton Medical Compression Stockings:

  • Sigvaris Stockings are made of swisscotton premium yarn used is manufactured in Switzerland and stands for maximum comfort owing to its extra long, fine stable fibers
  • The soft, non pressurized cuff is particularly comfortable. It is designed for sensitive legs and does not constrict
  • It has optimal yarn ration. 14% cotton absorbs moisture and guarantees a comfortable skin temperature. Moisture absorption reduces bacterial growth without damp feeling
  • 86% water repellent functional fibers ensure moisture evaporation and a cooling effect
  • The comfy heel of Sigvaris Compression Stockings ensures a perfect fit and makes stoking even more comfortable to wear
  • Special reinforced areas around the heel effectively protect the foot inside the shoe
  • The excellent thermo regulation function helps regulate skin temperature
  • The subtle and sheer ribbed texture also underscores the naturalness of cotton
  • Ideal for any season
  • Very soft against the skin
  • Maximum pressure stability throughout the day
  • Excellent strength stretch ratio
  • High wearing comfort thanks to special elasticity and good air permeability
  • Soft, delicate material

Compression level and indications:

All situations that increase the risk of thrombosis; surgery (especially abdominal-pelvic and orthopedic surgery), fractures or injuries to the lower limbs, impaired mobility.

23-32 mmHg compression level Stockings are indicated for:

  • More severe varicose veins during pregnancy
  • Varicose veins with mild oedema
  • Post superficial and deep venous thrombosis
  • Post schlerotherapy, venous surgery or thermal ablation to maintain therapeutic success
  • Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)
  • Management of healed venous ulcer in chronic venous insufficiency
  • Prevention of DVT and oedema
  • Prevent or manage post thrombotic syndrome (PTS)

Care Instructions for Sigvaris Compression Stockings:

  • Ideally the compression garments should be placed in a washing bag and placed on a delicate wash
  • Use a suitable washing product, something like a neutral fabric washing powder or liquid
  • Talc, bath and body oils can affect the silicone top bands on stockings so they may not be as sticky as when they were first worn. Cleaning with diluted alcohol or cleaning wipes remedies this problem

Precautions:

  • Synthetic washing powders, fabric softeners, fluorescent whitening agents, turpentine and acid or bleach products may damage the elastic yarn in the compression garment
  • After washing, use a low spin speed (never wring the product), towel dry and put in airing cupboard or put on a washing line to dry naturally. Please do not use a tumble dryer to dry your hosiery or place directly onto a radiator
  • Stockings should not be worn more than 6 months as they lose their elasticity. Some people say that their new stockings are firmer than their last pair. This is often because they had been wearing the previous products too long and perhaps not getting the best from their hosiery
  • Sharp fingernails and rings with sharp edges can quickly result in defects. Pay due attention to these risks when donning and removing your stockings, and always wear rubber gloves
  • Do not cut off any loose threads inside the stockings
  • Do not iron
  • Do not dry clean. Do not use chemicals

Composition:

  • Material Compositions: 52% Polyamide, 34% Elasthan, 14% Cotton
  • Length in cm (long): 75 cm - 84 cm
